K/S Hospital Scene bc Into Darkness was so K/S TASTIC
It was so sudden. He woke up with a flash, bright lights, soft sounds, a bed, he was alive?? But he'd died in the chamber...in engineering. Spock and he had exchanged that vulcan hand-thing whatever the hell it was. He'd died, he was dead. Was this heaven? Holy....
No. Bones was here nagging at him.
"Oh don't be so melodramatic, you were barely dead. You've been out cold for two weeks."
He was so...taken aback. What had happened? He just remembered being in the locked chamber watching Spock shed tears, glimmering tears of anguish as he slowly died of radiation poisoning... his heart lurched at the memory. He didn't know the vulcan was even capable...
And then Spock was in the room, approaching him. Suddenly... everything else was forgotten. Hell even Bones was gone in his mind, though he could hear the doctor put in a "You know Uhura and I had something to do with it too."
"....Thanks, Spock... for saving my life..."

...if he hadn't tried to fight Jim, the horse would not have become agitated.]
Jim and I had an altercation. In response, the horse became agitated and in its escape from the pen struck Jim down.
[It was entirely Spock's fault... He had essentially killed Jim. He couldn't protect him.
He was undeserving.
Wisely, he remained silent. Winona did not need the worry until Jim was in a safer position and healing. For now, he grabbed his communicator and called Doctor McCoy.]
Spock to Doctor McCoy.
no subject
[Oh Spock you flatter yourself. But Winona isn't in on what really happened, that you were trying to keep Jim out of trouble. She takes him at his word and sighs in exasperation.]
Why the fuck were you fighting in the barn? What are you fighting about?
Why did this happen?
[All it comes down to is why. Why is her baby half dead on her couch?
McCoy was quick, as always.]
McCoy here. What's going on?
no subject
Doctor McCoy, the Captain has been severely injured. With the use of a defibrillator I have been able to stabilize him. As his physician you are accustomed to his peculiar physiology... how soon can you meet us at the Iowa General? If it is required, I can arrange for an emergency beam out.
[Indeed, a Captain's life was on the line. Of course Spock could get Leonard here quickly.]
no subject
What happened? Never mind. I'll get it later.
They'll probably want to take him to Iowa university hospital. Tell them he's Starfleet and they'll take him to Riverside med center. Tell them his attending is Leonard McCoy. I'll be there in twenty.
no subject
What he didn't realize was that his hands were shaking.
Fascinating...
The Vulcan sat on the ground beside Jim... but he didn't touch him. They still had awhile to wait for the ambulance... and if it wasn't for Jim's state he could probably run Jim there faster.
Was he going to lose control again like last time? He wasn't sure... he felt rather numb.]
no subject
You want to tell me what happened? A little more in depth please.
no subject
He... was emotionally compromised. It was his desire to go into town and allow himself to be hurt in a physical altercation in town.
I...
...would not allow him to do so. I attempted to fulfill what he wanted, but I could not. Lightening, the horse sensed Jim's erratic emotions and tried to escape from his confines... as he did so he lashed out at Jim.
He was not breathing....
[Tears started to spill over Spock's eyes as he talked...his voice wavering as he shook.]
I am sorry. You were right.... I cannot... I am not good for him. He... could have died.
Again.
ooh do I recognize that lovely gif
You tried to stop him?
I don't understand how you are bad for him if you put his safety first. Lightning got afraid. He's wild. Wild horses scare easy...
Spock? You're...
[A Vulcan? Crying? ]
Again? What do you mean?
:3
The green blush that spread across his face showed his embarrassment...
...but then..
...oh.
That's right. Winona didn't know. The Vulcan breathed, attempting to regain his emotional control.]
The incident with Khan... Jim was proclaimed officially dead until we realized that Khan's blood could give Jim his life back.
[That was the extremely short version, but Spock didn't know how much he could say right now.
He still felt wholly at fault for this.]
Re: :3
My son died? And no one bothered to tell me? Not even him... What happened?
[Clearly this wasn't what she wanted to hear right now ]
no subject
Missus Kirk, it is a lengthy story...
[The Vulcan looked at Jim's barely breathing form and took a mental note of the barely there bond.
It would have destroyed him if it had fully broken.]
I can offer you another mind meld... that way I can convey all the information to you instantaneously. However... it is dangerous as I am not in an optimal state. Emotional transference is inevitable.
[Spock lifted his hand... his tear swollen eyes giving her the choice. She could say no, but she would have to wait to hear the story later.]
my manager made me a birthday cake!
Hit me with your worst, kid.
ooooh! Awesome! XD /noms your cake
My mind to your mind...
..my thoughts to your thoughts...
[The familiar inky darkness enveloped them both once more... but it was far more chaotic than it was before. Spock's emotions were almost tangible as he brought Winona forward to the appropriate memories.
The darkness shifted... showing Spock's perspective of the bridge as the ship plunged through the clouds.
When the situation had calmed... Scotty's voice echoed through the memory, showing the Vulcan's plummeting emotions at what the engineer might mean. Spock raced through the hallways, bringing Winona with him.
Then there... the glass.... Jim sitting, dying.
The entire conversation was played for Winona's sake and Spock had meant to stop it there, to explain what had happened.... but the memory had a mind of its own.
It continued, showing Spock's pain as he realized what he had lost, and the hunt for Khan.
It was only Uhura's word that the man's blood could save Jim that stopped the Vulcan from killing him....
The memory faded as they witnessed Jim emerge from his .... condition.... and it was there he ended the meld.
Spock, at least, had managed to keep the tears at bay this time.]
I... apologise for not informing you before. But he did not wish to worry you.
omg it got so busy. I was working on your tag but we just got avalanched
[She had tears in her eyes already but this memory... it was taking her for a ride...]
Mister Spock
Mister Scott...
Ye be'er git dewn here. Be'er hurry.
[As Spock bolted from the captain's chair, she knew already that Jim had done something horribly honorable and heroic to save the ship. It had returned to life so suddenly... Spock's dread was felt by her and she remembered her husband. How sadly ironic that George's absence had motivated Jim to the same selfless deed that would end his life.
Spock is standing before "Scotty" and he shakes his head grimly. Spock darted to the glass and there he was. Her son was so tiny, slumped over, almost something you'd miss behind the partition that framed the glass door. He looked in pain, his skin was already discoloring... he was sweating, gasping for air, struggling to talk.... He looked dead. Winona couldn't stop the aggressive despair that image brought forth. Like a tidal wave, she couldn't hold back the sudden abundance of tears and sobs.]
I'm scared Spock... help me not be. How do you choose not to feel?
I do not know... Right now I am failing.
....I want you to know why I couldn't let you die. Why I went back for you...
[Winona knew Jim was saying 'I love you' even if Spock didn't understand that at the moment. It reminded her of George's last words. Again she felt anguish but she didn't bother to stifle her crying. There was too much, it was hardly worth the effort.
Then Jim and Spock were saying goodbye... Spock was sobbing... Jim put his hand to the glass and Winona watched in horror as her son passed. His eyes grew dull and lifeless and she too felt part of herself go with him into the next life. Watching her child die, even if she knew he would return... it was too much.
Then Spock was screaming, he was hunting Khan down... she was blinded by her grief for Jim but again she was thrown into the eddies of Spock's emotions. Rage, despair, loneliness. She saw his realization. The horrid clarity he had just as Jim was dying... that sensation of everything matching, all the connections within him met Jim's. This thin line that was easily broken as Jim perished, yet it was perfect. A single golden thread almost like a hair. She knew it for an instant. Perfect satisfaction, completeness, a wholeness beyond oneself. Nirvana... and as quickly as she knew it the thread evaporated as though it hadn't existed at all. Jim's eyes were dull and his hand slipped from the glass... Spock's body began to shake and he couldn't stifle his yell. Or perhaps he simply didn't want to.
Winona knew peace only when Jim woke up again. She exited the meld with tears streaming down her face and sobs shaking her body.]
.....
.... can you show me what happened in the barn?
No worries! That was beautiful~
...but she deserves to know, especially if Jim takes a turn for the worse. They had been together in the meld for only moments... but it felt as though an eternity went by. Could he tell another story? They would both be near useless by the end.
Nonetheless, Spock finds himself nodding to Winona as he once again places his fingers upon her psypoints.... but this time he doesn't bother with the ritual words, merely plunges them into darkness once more.
He starts with Jim's emotions after Frank hits Winona... the boiling quiet that unnerves the Vulcan.
He knows though, that Jim wants to fight, that he's seen this before in him and Spock refuses to allow Jim to hurt himself once more.
The barn... the short argument... the agreement to fight but not being able to follow through. Spock is about to give up when the crack of wood splits through the memory.
It's quick.. too quick and yet the entire scene seems to play in slow motion. Regardless, Spock was helpless as Jim flew through the air and dramatically hit the stall wall.... followed by a sickening crack as the impact caused several bones to break.
The silence.... Spock's mind begins to wail at the silence as the bond...the golden thread suddenly disappears. Jim...
...Jim.....
.....no...no.nononononono.
Spock's mind is absolute chaos, yet his actions are calm as he works to bring Jim back to life.
Breath in...
....breath out.
Breath in...... Jim is alive. There is no time for celebration though as the meld once again ends.]
[Spock looks into Winona's eyes.... He has no words.]
I only do beautiful dahling
It's not your fault.
<3
[Spock looks over at Jim... who is still struggling to breath normally.
Where could he direct his anger this time? There was no enemy... no great chase. It was just...
...silence. And Spock hated it.
What if there was a next time? What would Spock do? If he failed this time, surely he would fail in the same manner.
The Vulcan gingerly touched Jim's hand...]
Re: <3
[Jim was drifting, still tethered lightly by the bond or what was left of it. His mind was in pain from the psychic damage. His body from the physical. But he will make it.]
I'll have to talk to you about how to handle a Kirk spouse. George got himself hurt all the time.
no subject
Wait... George did this too? He never mentioned that.]
I... would be grateful for any information that you have.
[At least they could hear the sirens in the distance.... The flat farmlands not preventing the sound to carry for miles. It wouldn't be long now.]
I... have reason to believe that I need to remain close to Jim as the bond was damaged. Will you permit me to travel with you to the hospital?
happy one thooouusaaaand!
We can talk later about it. You go with the ambulance. You can answer their questions. I'll follow with the car.
Can you handle that?
OMG! XD <3
The entire ride is a blur as he silently watches over Jim... but the truth is far from silent. The medics are almost professional... barely bat an eye at the Captain's condition.
They listen as Spock relays Doctor McCoy's instructions.
They keep telling him that he's going to be okay... but he finds that he cannot believe that until those eyes... that ocean thrives with life once more. Right now they're shut...
...and that won't do.
Spock knows he's being illogical... but he can't help feeling relieved when he sees Doctor McCoy rushing towards them.]
I saw A Chorus Line last night and it renewed my zest for that ballet AU
[The paramedics have seen this before. They'd seen worse and better. People having heart attacks, people cut in pieces by their farm equipment, people who died on the way... everything was handled with quiet efficiency. They read Jim's vitals and sent the information to Bones en route. Jim's bleeding was being staunched, they got him on oxygen, he was put on an IV to feed him extra blood to compete with what he'd lost. His skin was pale...
Bones looked gruff as usual but he was clearly in his element. He approached Spock, looking Jim over casually.]
I'm going to take him into surgery to reset his ribcage. I shouldn't be long. After that the serum I extracted from Khan should heal him up like last time, you know... last week.
[Eerily he eyed Spock. This was a strange de ja vu to be having with the vulcan. He'd had this same experience when Jim died on the Enterprise. Spock was compromised and Bones had to fix him, leaving him and his Commander to stare at each other for two weeks. There was a strange camaraderie.]
He'll be fine, Spock. There's a waiting room on the second floor that's usually quiet if you need to meditate.
[He headed off with Jim then]
We'll be back.
XD
When it came to Jim, there was nothing he could do to keep his emotions in check.
It seemed odd though.... ever since he started to really invest himself in James Tiberius Kirk... it has been nothing but an emotional rollarcoaster.
Yes... meditation would do nicely right now.
Spock watches Jim being rolled away... and only when he is out of sight does he move to the waiting room he was directed to.
Sitting down in a meditative pose, the Vulcan breathes... He was certain that Winona would be joining him shortly, but he needed this now while he had the chance. Closing his eyes, Spock finds his center...
...his center...
...a place that was in tatters and nearly non-existent only moments before. The entire process had felt like days, not minutes.
Spock focused on the damaged bond, and put everything he had into it to repair it. His love and willingness for Jim's safety surrounded his mate's presence...
He trusted Doctor McCoy... He even trusted Winona...
...but could he trust himself?
Right now, it only mattered that Jim survived.]
I am so sorry I have no fun icons from my mobile
His end of the bond clung to Spock as his body was cut. But he didn't let go]
That's okay m'dear~ XD
Breathing deeply, he looked at Winona, his eyes slightly clearer this time.]
Jim is... 'out of danger' as it were.
[Spock moved to sit near Winona...] It would seem... that our vacation here has proved to be more stressful to you than planned.
Back from the birthday bashing @___@
OMG HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY! XD
Danke shoen
<3 Did you check your email? XD
D'aww you're sweet. ilu2

You should know my desire for this ballet AU is through the roof
We might be able to start it tonight?
I gotta work tonight :( Tomorrow night I am off though. No rush, you are still on vacay
Okies~
I still haven't written up all Jim's memories for this bonding thang either. /FAILS
