It was so sudden. He woke up with a flash, bright lights, soft sounds, a bed, he was alive?? But he'd died in the chamber...in engineering. Spock and he had exchanged that vulcan hand-thing whatever the hell it was. He'd died, he was dead. Was this heaven? Holy....
No. Bones was here nagging at him.
"Oh don't be so melodramatic, you were barely dead. You've been out cold for two weeks."
He was so...taken aback. What had happened? He just remembered being in the locked chamber watching Spock shed tears, glimmering tears of anguish as he slowly died of radiation poisoning... his heart lurched at the memory. He didn't know the vulcan was even capable...
And then Spock was in the room, approaching him. Suddenly... everything else was forgotten. Hell even Bones was gone in his mind, though he could hear the doctor put in a "You know Uhura and I had something to do with it too."
"....Thanks, Spock... for saving my life..."

Date: 2013-09-11 03:43 am (UTC)...I would not rule out any symptom.
[Spock continued to touch Jim, worrying at the prospect of Jim being in any kind of pain.]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 03:49 am (UTC)We've got to work on your bedside manner, babe...
[But he was content to lie there. It was as if he wasn't aware of his body, as if his mind and body were a house and he was locked in the innermost room, unable to communicate with anything else, unaware of the other rooms.]</sub.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 03:56 am (UTC)...the only thing is that he felt Jim's disconnect, and that was unnerving. Was this one of the symptoms? Well.... he would monitor Jim closely.
And it wasn't as if it was a problem to hang onto Jim every time he needed it.]
Sleep Ashaya... I am here.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 04:02 am (UTC)[Jim fell asleep, and he wouldn't wake up for three days. No amount of shaking, calling, yelling, pinching, or water-dousing would wake him. His mind was building a barrier to the invasion the bond caused. He was developing a resistance and that took time and energy. To anyone outside, Jim seemed like he was in a coma but to Spock only... it was evident that Jim was very much alert inside his mind, he was just busy. Very very busy getting everything adjusted... it took all his energy. He literally couldn't open his eyes.]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 04:06 am (UTC)The Vulcan also ensured to stay close to Jim, as any real degree of separation seemed to cause.... agitation.
When Jim wakes, Spock will be seated on a chair by the bed.... with a large platter of food on the table beside him.]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 04:19 am (UTC)[He wakes slowly, reaching for something...someone]
Spock...Spock?? Where are- where did you go?
[He blinked, looking around. He finds his mate
And his mind asks all the questions. Why is he out of bed? How long has it been? Why is he dressed? Has it been a long time? Why is there food here? He's so hungry...how did Spock gues-- oh right. Bonded. Got it.
...Can he touch him?
[He reaches for Spock's hand weakly.]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 04:23 am (UTC)Ashaya... you have been asleep for three days following the consummation of the bond. You are dressed because... like all humans who spend that amount of time in a coma-like state...you had certain needs that had to be taken care of.
You need to eat.
[Spock lets go of Jim's hand only to gather the large plate with what looks like at least three sandwiches cut up into triangles.] If you finish this, I can acquire more.
[There was also a pitcher of water near by.]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 04:34 am (UTC)[Needs? Certain needs? What like he was cold? Please tell him he was just cold and needed to be dressed. Maybe Spock cleaned him off, that's all Jim wants to have happened. Who knows what comatose bodies do... natural business? Please not in front of Spock. For his own pride.
He can't possibly finish all that food. Can't possibly...hey why is it disappearing so fast? He was famished but he didn't finish the whole thing. Though he was tempted to. He was a plate-cleaner and Spock knew it. Don't give him more than he can handle, vulcan, he gets all uptight about that.
But he's thirsty. Hey, is that water? GULP. Hey now it's empty... but Jim looks refreshed.]
Thank you.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 04:38 am (UTC)Thanks are unnecessary.
[Three days? Of course your body went through everything in three days. There's nothing to be embarrassed about, it was only logical. And Spock didn't mind.]
How are you feeling?
[Spock could feel Jim's mind, but he wanted to hear it from the horse's mouth.]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 04:59 am (UTC)I feel... weird. I dunno how to explain it.
[He feels the duality of their now shared minds. He feels exposed and unfiltered... it feels like his house suddenly has its whole east-side wall removed and he is attached to his neighbor's house now.]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 05:06 am (UTC)You are exposed. We both are.... to each other. We are one, and together for the rest of our lives.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 05:18 am (UTC)Do you think we'll ever get tired of each other? Do you think we'll ever just fight in here? Ooooh shit what do we do then?
I feel... tired. Like... I'm already almost at the end of my rope.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 05:22 am (UTC)Ashaya, it is my belief that you will be tired for quite some time while your mind adjusts. If you desire sleep, then sleep. I will be here....
As for your query... I could never tire of you my T'hy'la. You are infinitely more interesting than the universe or anything that it contains. And while we may fight from time to time... please not that I will always love you.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-11 05:32 am (UTC)Hm? Oh just sweep me off my feet, Spock~
... me too though... in fact take fighting as a sign that I still love you. It means I care. Couples who don't fight... they are the ones that are dying.
....
Hm....
Uhura would have given her left hand to have you talk to her like you talk to me... am I bad for feeling validated? Because I really feel kind of...awesome about it.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-12 01:11 am (UTC)Like all things, I can approach this logically and scientifically. I talk to you like this because you are the only one in the universe who is my perfect, other half.
There is a Terran analogy about attempting to put square objects into circular holes that applies here regarding Nyota and I.
And you, James Tiberius Kirk... are the only one that makes me feel like this.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-12 03:13 am (UTC)Keep talking...
[He's slowing down already, his mind was drifting off to sleep. Spock was saying such nice things...]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-12 03:24 am (UTC)...he knew how much Jim like that.]
You, Jim.....are my T'hy'la. The only one in the universe that is my other half. My destiny... my love...
[Spock continues with his narrative, speaking on all the beautiful things about Jim. And believe me, there was a lot of material to cover.]

Date: 2013-09-12 03:57 am (UTC)Well... work was a relative term, he was keeping a journal of everything that had transpired. Some part of him chastised him for doing this, and that he didn't need it due to his eidetic memory. But... with their job, who knew? So he had his rather large, leather bound book in hand, and wrote down not only a record of what was happening, but his thoughts, questions... everything.
It was his one little secret he kept from Jim... well, that and Kodos' continued existence. He would wait for Jim to wake up...
....he would always wait for Jim.]

Date: 2013-09-12 04:08 am (UTC)Winona was surprised when she made the mistake of touching her son when he was nearly asleep. She'd stepped into the room to check on him and pet his hair back soothingly. Jim jerked awake, his mind was alert as if he'd been invaded when in fact it had simply revolted to being touched by someone not-Spock. He had flinched and turned around, as if prodded with a hot iron... it took him a while after that to re-settle and get back to resting form.]
no subject
Date: 2013-09-12 04:12 am (UTC)...and this time, he decided to approach her for something other than food.]
Missus Kirk.
[Jim was fast asleep up in his room, and Spock had wandered down into the kitchen.]
My apologies for being.... distant these last few days. However, I would imagine that you have quite a number of questions. I am at your disposal.
no subject
Date: 2013-09-12 04:20 am (UTC)Hmm.
[She was working on cooking something, she had to make a lot of food to keep up with her son. Jim had been eating more lately, but where was he putting it? Did he sleep it off? And when he looked at her after she just touched him.... like she was an unwelcome stranger. When Spock appeared she tried not to look resentful. hat had he done to her son??]
Right... how is he doing?
no subject
Date: 2013-09-12 04:22 am (UTC)[Kind of a vague answer... but it was a vague question. And Spock didn't tell her a lie.
The Vulcan sat down at the kitchen table...]

Date: 2013-09-12 04:33 am (UTC)[She remained at the stove, minding the stew she was making.]
How did you expect him to turn out?
....Any idea how long this is going to last?
no subject
Date: 2013-09-12 04:35 am (UTC)As for length.. we only have my mother's estimate to go by. She was free of the symptoms after a year. Considering Jim's strength, we are hoping for a shorter time period than that.
[Spock was getting...nervous. She seemed upset.]
