K/S Hospital Scene bc Into Darkness was so K/S TASTIC

It was so sudden. He woke up with a flash, bright lights, soft sounds, a bed, he was alive?? But he'd died in the chamber...in engineering. Spock and he had exchanged that vulcan hand-thing whatever the hell it was. He'd died, he was dead. Was this heaven? Holy....

No. Bones was here nagging at him.

"Oh don't be so melodramatic, you were barely dead. You've been out cold for two weeks."

He was so...taken aback. What had happened? He just remembered being in the locked chamber watching Spock shed tears, glimmering tears of anguish as he slowly died of radiation poisoning... his heart lurched at the memory. He didn't know the vulcan was even capable...

And then Spock was in the room, approaching him. Suddenly... everything else was forgotten. Hell even Bones was gone in his mind, though he could hear the doctor put in a "You know Uhura and I had something to do with it too."

"....Thanks, Spock... for saving my life..."

[Spock nods... He knows he is more human than he lets on, yet lately he has been too emotional. It's not good for a Vulcan. He needs to find a balance.]

[Spock wondered what kind of game Winona would offer him.
He had a passing thought of Jim being a professional singer...

But until then the replicator is very willing to provide you with a chess board and your mother-in-law will play rather like a seasoned veteran. She isn't as good as Jim or rather she isn't as unpredictable as him. She is well versed in the major playing arcs of the game so be prepared for a wide range of games, Spock. Be grateful because you might be playing her for a while.

She plays like her own personality. Very defensive but allowing only her mediocre pieces to fall into Spock's possession. No bishops or knights are sacrificed until well into the game. Her queen is barely used and even then it's only when she can land a check on Spock.]</sub>

After checking Winona Spock regarded her for a moment...]

[Spock nods... a small smile playing on his lips.]

It was a hard battle... but he had to hand it to Winona, she knew her chess.
Spock's examines the board as though there was a scientific explanation for why he lost...

Yes, please. I think one of us should stay with him tonight. Leonard is here and he's stable. No sense in both of us getting cricked necks. I'm fine with either one so do you want to stay here tonight or go back to the house?

[Spock hesitates for a moment... wondering if he's crossing any boundaries.]

_{[She smiled tiredly and exited the room. There was silence save for the sound of Jim's breathing and the machines he was attached to.]}

[Spock stood as he watched Winona leave... glad to hear that she was going to get some proper sleep.

Now he was alone...


Eyes darting over to Jim's still form, he sits in the chair that Winona vacated... and takes Jim's hand in his own.

Closing his eyes, the Vulcan breathes. This.... this is what he wanted... needed.
The bond curled around Jim... soft and warm as he breathed in time with his heart. He would wait forever if he had to... ]

<sub>[Waiting forever is the same as saying he'll never wake up, isn't it? We'll have none of that here. Jim stirs a bit, clearly having had enough of a nap, and opens his eyes.]

Mnnn....Spock?

[He turns his head, breathing a bit unevenly as he woke up. His end of the bond signaled confusion, disorientation, and a desire for closeness. Why was his head still sore? What's wrong with this bond? It's been hurting his head all day. He can tell that Spock is near, but as lucidity dawns on him he also learns he is not in his own bed.]

Mnnn... where are we?</sub>

[Spock opens his eyes as Jim speaks... his breath caught in his throat as he lurches forward.. grasping Jim's hand.]

I am here Ashaya.... we are in the hospital. What is the last thing you remember?

_{[Jim apparently took quite a bit of energy to think at the moment. Everything was so boggled and mixed up and his memories were only really coming back with intense labor as if trying to grasp at a dream half dissolved in the bright sunrise of consciousness.]}

...Lightning... he got spooked. Did he... did he hit me?

_{[he looked to Spock, blue eyes glowing in the moonlight coming from the window. Wait, it was dark?]}

[Spock lifted his hand and held Jim's face... stroking his fingers near the temple.]

Calm yourself Ashaya... you are safe, and you are well now. You were indeed hit by your horse, but Doctor McCoy was able to tend to you.

[Spock stroked the bond with his mind... attempting to calm Jim as much as he could.]

It has been... approximately six hours since the accident. Your mother was here as well until recently.

_{[He was calm. He's just confused and in want of some answers. It also helps he has half a teaspoon of patience. He responds to Spock's efforts regardless and come to a placid state, now fully awake and ready to converse. Also he's famished. On second thought perhaps it's not really that Spock had a need to silence him with 'calmness' perhaps its just him wishing for Jim to be more in his comfort zone of vulcan emotional castration. A perfectly normal desire honestly. He'd prefer if Spock loosened up a bit more sometimes or if the Starfleet HQ were more carefree and had fewer sticks up their collective ass.]}

He did huh?... _{[His eyes darted to the window. The landscape, while small from his view, was of a car park, plantations in the background, and a sign planted proclaiming this unholy place as the Riverside Starfleet Medical Center.]}

Bones came all the way out here? How bad was it?

[Spock, sensing Jim's gather patience, eases back...

He's not getting anything right lately.

[The Vulcan stands and moves over to the replicator, pulling out his padd as he went.]

[Spock's fingers pause on the keypad.... Jim was right. He sent Winona a small written message letting her know that Jim had regained consciousness and would love to see her in the morning.

Taking his eyes from the PADD he focuses on the replicator and gets Jim chicken noodle soup. He bring it over on a lap tray.]

Yes... it was an unpleasant experience. However, you are here, and it is illogical to dwell on the past.
It is... good to see you awake.

[Indeed, Spock couldn't stop staring at Jim's vibrant blue eyes. He was alive...

..alive.

His gift was almost taken from him once more... He doesn't know what he would do if his gift was lost forever.]

[Spock doesn't want to worry Jim.... but the fact is, it's all there in his head. The worry, the absolute trauma of seeing Jim die in front of him once again. The quiet stillness that filled his heart and mind as the bond that represented everything that he had with Jim suddenly disappeared.
There was no Earth shattering event... no planetary destruction... Rather, it was like a light-switch. All of a sudden, the light was out. Gone. Still.

Spock knew that Jim was a free spirit... a being who explored space and everything around him with a passion that rivaled his own. And yet... knowing that, he wanted nothing more than to hold Jim close...

...to keep him forever safe in his arms. Spock's mind shuddered at the very thought. He couldn't do that... he wouldn't. Jim would hate him for it.
No... Spock knew the dangers that they faced on a regular basis while traveling space. It would be illogical to refuse their existence.

Didn't mean he had to like it.


Spock took Jim's hand... stroking the fingers as he kissed him lightly with his long digits. To speak would mean to admit his feelings...
...and already he felt as though he had done something wrong.
It was like Winona said... he was immature. And right at this very moment, he was painfully aware of it.]

You died Jim... again. It was painful.
The bond suffered.

It is simple truth Jim to admit that I did not know what to do, and that still I wonder what would I do if we could not bring you back. However, I cannot allow myself to think that... because you are here... alive and well. And for that I am eternally thankful.

_{[Jim wasn't convinced with that small explanation. Not when he can feel a whole spectrum of emotions, a whole masterpiece painting he could give better than Spock right now. Anguish, desperation, grief, fear.... a desperate fear of losing what he held most dear and knowing the reality of that threat. He'd seen it before and yearned never see it again, yet he knew the posts they held held many dangers, some that could and very well might take his life for good. He gave his love an authoritative glance while kissing him back more deliberately with his fingers.]}

... Spock... You don't have to be restrained around me.

_{[Or is this what the bond was for? So Spock didn't have to explain it with inferior words? Aggressively inadequate to describe the emotions he could feel acutely through this intangible bond?]}

[Spock shudders then.... Jim's words rolling throw him like a thunderous wave.
Biting back a sob of relief, the Vulcan leans forward... burying his head in the nape of Jim's neck, just inhaling Jim's scent. It's there, under the odd and sickly hospital smells, the scent of Jim... alive.

Spock's hand leaves Jim's... and he places it gently over Jim's heart, making sure not to disturb any of Leonard's work.
And he just stays like that for a moment...giving into his weakness.]
