It was so sudden. He woke up with a flash, bright lights, soft sounds, a bed, he was alive?? But he'd died in the chamber...in engineering. Spock and he had exchanged that vulcan hand-thing whatever the hell it was. He'd died, he was dead. Was this heaven? Holy....

No. Bones was here nagging at him.

"Oh don't be so melodramatic, you were barely dead. You've been out cold for two weeks."

He was so...taken aback. What had happened? He just remembered being in the locked chamber watching Spock shed tears, glimmering tears of anguish as he slowly died of radiation poisoning... his heart lurched at the memory. He didn't know the vulcan was even capable...

And then Spock was in the room, approaching him. Suddenly... everything else was forgotten. Hell even Bones was gone in his mind, though he could hear the doctor put in a "You know Uhura and I had something to do with it too."

"....Thanks, Spock... for saving my life..."

_{[He doesn't know what to say but he knows Spock is recovering from a deep wound and it's his fault for putting it there. He can't undo it but he wants desperately for Spock to be at peace.]}

[Spock lifts his other hand to gently touch Jim's face... wondering how fortunate he was to be able to do this.]

[A lot of people had said that to him before but they never meant it. They usually wanted him to commit to a promise later on regardless of what they'd said. Jim believes Spock and he hopes he can live up to that promise. But he projects the euphoria of being with someone he loved who also let him be free. [Spock once more let his mind drift as he lay down beside Jim. Sleep sounded really good right now.

Making sure to not put weight on Jim's chest, the Vulcan stretched out his form on the bed, and took Jim's hand in his own.]

[Of course he would never cage Jim... but he would spend the rest of his life convincing Jim that his life was of value. And that would inevitably end the rash and harmful decisions. Because Jim's life? It was precious to Spock.]

[Closing his eyes, he fell asleep once more, his mind blissfully at ease.]

[Jim fell into a restful sleep, his head against Spock's his hand in his. Spock might wake up to a certain woman in the room, seated across the bed in a chair. She was playing a game on her personal tablet, ignoring the scene on the bed.]</sub>

[Spock opened his eyes when he sensed another presence in the room... but he didn't want to move for fear of waking Jim.

That's when he saw Winona...

A small blush made its way up the Vulcan's neck as the compromising position he was caught in. Sure it was innocent by human standards.... but on Vulcan this was scandalous.

_{[She asked softy so as not to wake Jim, casually too since she didn't raise her glance from her tablet game. It lit her face while she traced along the screen some indecipherable pattern.]}

[Well... it was time to untangle himself from Jim...

Moving slowly so as not to wake him, the Vulcan sat up and regarded the woman.]

Indeed. Were you able to get an update from Doctor McCoy?

[This was a little embarrassing... but still not the worst thing he was ever caught doing. When Jim woke up, they would be able to discuss staying at the farm for an extended period of time.]

Yes, he says Jim looks much better but he's keeping him here while his bones harden a few more days. He doesn't trust Jim not to move around and I agree.

Indeed. I have always found it rather interesting how the human body changes when relaxed... usually portraying a younger version of the person.

I know... he carries a heavy burden being the captain. I know it's what he wanted but he gets very attached to his crew. They're his family now. I can't imagine he took losing any of them very well...

It's fine, I figured you two could use some alone time. I found Lightning this morning, he's back in the barn. He really got spooked... kicked out his door and everything.

Negative... and I am certain that Jim will be quite hungry when he awakes.

[Spock thought about Jim's expression after he found out how many of his crew members had died...
...he never wanted to see that expression on Jim's face again. Unfortunately, it was likely to happen again, especially once they were sent out on their five year mission.]

_{[She nodded and got up, flipping through the replicator menu. She made up some eggs and toast, then some coffee]}

_{[Jim roused a bit from the smell and the talking. Not to mention he was very ready to get up. He'd laid prone long enough.]}

_{[Jim groaned at the name. He took a deep breath and stretched in the bed. Winona reached forward]}

Well as long as it takes for this bond thing to settle. If you're going to be incapacitated from it and planning a wedding before you go back to space then you're going to need some help. Not only that but after you get discharged someone has to make sure you don't hurt yourself again.

....that was another matter entirely. Spock wondering what his clan mother would do if she found out her grandson, and the heir to the house of Surak will do in response. There's not many clan members left... of any clans for that matter...

....but Vulcans were still holding dear to their traditions regardless.

[Spock doesn't really pay attention to Winona as she leaves... his focus is entirely on Jim as he assess his projected thoughts.
As soon as they are alone, the Vulcan leans down to capture those lips...]

[Spock breath hitches as he continues to caress Jim's fingers, and place gentle kisses to those lips.]
