The Vow au bc I love this plot twist and Aqua/Jim are adorable

Three years, nearly four, of wedded bliss. Jim was calmer, more focused and honestly a better captain. He had his wife, his beloved Aqua to thank for that, she was his light, his heart, his whole world. She kept him grounded and morally upright and he honestly took fewer stupid risks with his life thanks to her. The crew ran better, the Enterprise had better records, life was good.

Jim had bought them a house for when he was on Shore Leave on Earth, it barely got used but when Enterprise was docked, well they needed to crash somewhere. It was a nice place in San Francisco, in the heart of downtown and worth every penny of the millions it was worth.The property values were sky high but Jim was a veteran captain and got paid accordingly. He used his money on very little else besides charity so he was happy to spoil his wife with a comfortable home. Besides, if and when they had kids... well if their house just happened to be in an ideal school district he wouldn't call it an accident.

Everything was perfect, which begged for it all to come crashing down soon enough. Jim wouldn't remember the crash or the drunk kids in a truck behind him and Aqua on the road, he wouldn't remember that he shouldn't be alive, his wayfinder had saved him....but he doesn't know what this anymore. All he knows is he's laying in bed, he feels numb.. and he's waking up in what sounds and smells like a hospital.

"Mmm... mm." he was so tired and yet his mind was racing with questions. 'Where am I? What happened? Where's my ship?'

"I suppose you did..." They did end up running into each other a few times while she was trying to figure out a way to get off his ship. Though in between trying to solve her own problems and getting back home, she became of some help to the crew.

"Hm? Oh, I never said you were bad at kissing...' Oh Light, he was making her blush now.

"No, it was just..." she had to look away in an attempt to hide her blushing cheeks from him.

"I never thought I would get kissed. I had my life planned out of being a guard, a warrior. It never dawned on me that someone wanted to kiss me, or wanted to date me."

He just watched her, curious and charmed by the obvious naive innocence. He had to have been drawn in by that initially. He'd had to have wondered if that was real or just fake because that is hard to come by in this modern world where mass media crushes innocence before the age of four.

"Really? Not even once? Someone as pretty as you? Please. Good thing you met me." sheesh, not even a childhood fling? Some crush? A celebrity idol?

"Guard? What kind of guard?"

"Nope, not even once." Hard to believe, but it was true. For someone who studied spells, stances and stayed up all night in the library, she was pretty innocent. Even when Aqua was growing up around Terra, she wasn't treated any differently because of her gender.

"Ahh, I suppose it was a good thing. No one ever complimented me as much until you came around," she admitted, continuing to keep her head bowed.

"Ahh, we shared similar directives, to protect and serve. That sort of thing."

Well Terra was also growing up around HER and she could just as easily have treated him differently for his gender.

"That I don't believe. Just...nobody? Were you a shut in or just that sheltered?" or was she just homely as a kid? He knew a lot of people were pretty as kids and ugly as adults and vice versa. She was beautiful... and he was certainly an awkward looking child so maybe? Still, anybody who even wanted to try could get SOMEONE. She must have been totally uninterested or oblivious. Both?

"Well I probably figured I had some making up to do. And I am also an explorer, discovering new worlds and new civilizations. Do you ever do that? Who do you serve? Starfleet?"

She probably did treat Terra a little differently. Whenever they sparred together she didn't hold back. They rough housed and it was considered normal for her.

There was a casual shrug of her shoulders.

"I had a lot to focus on, things to keep me busy from textbooks to learning how to defend myself. I meant, I noticed boys, but that was it. Never acted on any impulses until I met you." So it was a little bit of both.

"I didn't serve Starfleet, someone else entirely. But, yes I went to a few worlds and met different people along the way."

"Oh I see how it is, you just lost control around me. I got your attention, I got you to pine for the male form?" he chuckled dryly. "Kidding."

Was this how he teased her before? He could see himself doing that but he can't see any woman putting up with that.

"Alright, no Starfleet. But what worlds did you go to? Who do you serve? Why did you end up on my ship and why were you stuck there?"

The way Jim joked around with her was the type of bantering Aqua liked. She smiled at him, shaking her head at his use of 'kidding'. She knew when he was joking with her and when he was being serious. Aqua found herself thinking he was back to himself and they were reminiscing about everything. It was tempting to come up behind him, wrap her arms around his waist and hold him.

"Yes, you made me realize there were men in the world and that I had to have you."

Ahh, but more questions. How could she continue on with her charade?

"I went to different ones. Hard to remember all of them. I served an old order and for getting stuck on your ship...we still never figured that out. Maybe it was fate trying to get us together, get over our stubborn ways and be with each other."

"Well, can't say I blame you. I am devastating... did I have to work hard for you? Did you take convincing?" he finds it strange to ask that but he is willing to get a story if he knows more about his own life.

"Aqua... come on, stop avoiding answering. You know I'll find out eventually then I'll be irritated you didn't tell me." he would be, honestly. Displeased that she didn't trust him enough to give him the truth.

"Yeah you are..." As for him working hard for her..That took a moment to figure out.

"Not really, not that I could see. You'd have to ask McCoy and Spock that. I was really oblivious to anyone flirting with me until a 16 year old asked me out. That was awkward and before I met you.:

She chewed on her lower lip. He had a point. He would be irritated with her, but how could she go about saying she had magic without him freaking out?

"That is the answer. I couldn't figure out why I couldn't leave. Neither science nor magic could explain why I was unable to leave your ship." She casually slipped in the word magic, like it was nothing. Maybe he wouldn't catch it..maybe.

He was genuinely flattered by her response... however that was short lived. As he puts their food on the table he raises an eyebrow at her.

" Magic huh. Did we get that desperate to turn to magic?" he tried to chuckle but she sounded kind of serious...

Okay...he caught on to her wording. Now, did she dare go on with it? Might as well...I hate hiding it from him. And sooner or later he would find out, as he said.

"No, we didn't, but I tried to..." Aqua let her sentence trail on for a moment, letting it sink in before continuing.

"I'm able to use magic, Jim. It's not fantasy or a joke..." and as proof she held out her hand, creating ice and snow from nothing. the mini blizzard in the palm of her hand stayed there for a handful of seconds before she dismissed it.

"...it's real."

I want to have a Frozen moment and have Jim ask 'do the magic, do the magic!' and they have snow

He's about to chuckle at her when she whips out the tiny snow storm. He's forced to pause and stare in awe at the phenomenon before him, not quite believing then... not quite sure how to give words to what he was seeing.

".....do it again."

Aqua was waiting for Jim's reaction. She was on pins and needles hoping he wouldn't freak out. When he asked her to do it again, Aqua took it as a good sign.

Her eyes roamed over the counter to pick up a spoon, throwing it into the air and call out a spell; stop. The spoon froze in mid-air, suspended in animation.

"...do you need to see more?"

he'd be like a big kid... well he already is a big kid

He tapped the spoon in wonder. It just... froze. He stared a moment ten noted at her question.

"... yes!" he's grinning. " show me all of it!" He has forgotten about food. He is too excited now, he looks like a child grinning.

"All of it" Aqua blinked, looking over at her husband in wonder. Did she hear him correctly? He wanted her to show him everything? Her armor? Her keyblade? Everything?

"It would take days for me to show you all I can do...but..you're not..okay stupid question, but you're not upset?"

Amnesia, remember, Aqua? He doesn't know that you have a treasure chest of powers. He only knows this is awesome and he wants more.

"Upset? Why would I be upset? My wife is a freaking wizard!"

"Wizard? Oh no, Merlin is a wizard. I'm a Keyblade Master..." which really wouldn't do well with his lack of memory. A burden had been lifted off her shoulders hearing her husband's excitement. He didn't freak out, he wasn't angry and better yet, he wanted to see more.

"How about we eat, I explain a few more things then show you more magic, okay?"

He might not remember her but he was as thrilled with her powers as... actually no. He was more thrilled with her powers than he was when they first met. The first time they met he was on the defensive but now he was calm and welcoming toward her newness... more or less. She was still an uncomfortable stranger but he wasn't threatened by what her powers might do to his crew. He was excited for new cool things to witness.

"Keyblade? What now?" he sat down, wolfing down his food.

"Merlin is a real wizard? That's nuts." he didn't think it was THE Merlin. Just someone who actually got landed with THAT name, which sucks.

"Hey you think you can magic my memories back?"

Aqua sat down across from him, slowly eating her food. The pancakes were hitting the spot, along with the syrup. Having food certainly made things better for her. She felt calmer now and happier. No stress for her or their baby.

"Yes, he is. A bit forgetful, but he has his owl to remind him..." That was all she needed to start introducing Jim to a few special phrases. What a keyblade was, what she did, letting him learn more about her.

But of course, she made sure to leave a few other details out. What happened with Vanitas and Xehanort. The time she spent in Darkness or the time she came back to him and passed out from exhaustion.

He's glad she seems better. He was worried about her being so stressed. He is finished eating in record time since he's listening instead of talking.

" wait so you can just whip it out anytime then? And... how do you get one, it just appears?"

"I can, but I haven't done so in some time. I don't use my power if I don't need to.." But when he got into his accident, she tried using magic to restore his memories with no luck. His body was too weak for her to use any more spells to bring his memories back to him.

"I was chosen by the Keyblade to wield it, but yes it did appear to me one day. I know shortly after Master Eraqus took me into his care and trained me to become a Keyblade Master."

"It chooses you? You're the chosen one?" he was impressed, very impressed.

"Eat up, I want to see this thing." like a kid waiting to go to the fair. He's more animated than ever before. Eyes wide, fixed on her, eager for more information.

"What's the biggest thing you can do? Wait, does Eraqus train people TO be masters?"

"I am one of the few with a strong heart that the keyblade chose, yes." He had so many questions, not about their lives, but about her. The things she could do and what she could show him.

"Alright, hold on." She had a few more bites before finishing her plate. Unlike Jim, she liked to savor her food while eating it.

"Biggest? That's hard to say, but yes. Eraqus trained me, Terra and Ven to be Masters." she picked up her plate to place it in the sink.

"If we go into the backyard, I can do a few more things, but nothing too big to alert the neighbors."

"Well aren't you awesome?" he smirked at her "Are you saying I'm not pure at heart?"

He normally savored his food, she knew that. After his experience at Tarsus IV as a child nearly starving to death, he knew the joy of eating and he savored every bite he had. But she already knew that horrific story. He'd told her years before.

"He was a master too...ooh awesome, what are you gonna do?" he put his dishes in the sink too and headed outside. The backyard was strategically adorned with trees and flowering shrubs, plus a little patio for a barbecue and a table and an outdoor fireplace. You know... kind of a spoiled rich kid's backyard.

"It just took you until now to realize how awesome I am?" she teased, following him out to the backyard. She knew he liked to savor his food, but it always amused her whenever he shoveled it down.

"I have no comment on your heart." More teasing, though if neither of them were careful, their playful banter could lead to other things. Things of the intimate variety.

Once outside, she began to show him a multitude of tricks. Using fire spins, creating mini tornadoes, anything that was small to show off. Gradually, she threw in a bigger, more powerful spell, but she made sure his life wasn't in danger. By the time she was done, she was feeling the strain of not practicing for so long.

"Any more questions?"
