The Vow au bc I love this plot twist and Aqua/Jim are adorable

Three years, nearly four, of wedded bliss. Jim was calmer, more focused and honestly a better captain. He had his wife, his beloved Aqua to thank for that, she was his light, his heart, his whole world. She kept him grounded and morally upright and he honestly took fewer stupid risks with his life thanks to her. The crew ran better, the Enterprise had better records, life was good.

Jim had bought them a house for when he was on Shore Leave on Earth, it barely got used but when Enterprise was docked, well they needed to crash somewhere. It was a nice place in San Francisco, in the heart of downtown and worth every penny of the millions it was worth.The property values were sky high but Jim was a veteran captain and got paid accordingly. He used his money on very little else besides charity so he was happy to spoil his wife with a comfortable home. Besides, if and when they had kids... well if their house just happened to be in an ideal school district he wouldn't call it an accident.

Everything was perfect, which begged for it all to come crashing down soon enough. Jim wouldn't remember the crash or the drunk kids in a truck behind him and Aqua on the road, he wouldn't remember that he shouldn't be alive, his wayfinder had saved him....but he doesn't know what this anymore. All he knows is he's laying in bed, he feels numb.. and he's waking up in what sounds and smells like a hospital.

"Mmm... mm." he was so tired and yet his mind was racing with questions. 'Where am I? What happened? Where's my ship?'

"I figured. I'm sure they'll take the news well." Rather more than well. Knowing Jim's crew they would ecstatic and Aqua wouldn't know what to do with the attention. She wasn't the type to like people fussing over her. She preferred to have the attention on someone else and hang in the background.

"What do you mean now? You kindda were one before I met you," the bluenette teased back.

"We play monopoly, which was a hard concept to grasp for me when you first brought it out. Then there's Jenga, loads of fun and..." She listed off several others, including card games.

"we could play for a bit then if you like, maybe go see your crew? they miss you a lot, I'm sure."

"You calling me a loser? Ouch, oh that stings." he put his hand over his heart. "Burn." he appreciated having a wife that messed with him right back, honestly. Some girls got all uppity about being teased and it killed the mood most times.

"Monopoly? Monopoly?? How much time to we have on our hands anyway? I never taught you good old 3D chess? Maybe not, that's kind of a 'me and Spock' thing. I wouldn't want him to get jealous now. But sure, woo me again with your breathtaking boardaming."

If Jim couldn't tell by now Aqua wasn't like most girls. She knew when her husband was playing around and wasn't afraid to shoot him back a witty remark. At least now she had gotten the hang of him whenever he began to flirt with her, otherwise she would still be a deer in the headlights over it.

"You tried to teach me, but I prefer the old chess." And besides, as he said, it was a Spock and him thing.

"I'll be sure to do that. My charms have been known to work and give me the title of winner." She gave him a small smirk then, enjoying the ride as they drove home. Before long they were at home with Aqua setting up a game of Jenga. A game of mental concentration and focus.

"Losers go first, so after you."

"Charms?? What, are you saying I throw the game to let you win? Oh please, not in my house, you better earn that championship dear." he smirked as they entered the house and he set the books down.

He quickly threw some dinner in the oven, by the time they were done book shopping and through the traffic to get home it was nearly time to start cooking again. He had a roast in the oven that could take a while to cook while they played.

"Jenga... ancient game. Sure, let's see you try not to cry when you lose."

"Cry? My sweet Jim, that's what you do. Every. Single. Time." Aqua flashed him a cheeky grin, waiting for him to make the first move.

She could smell the food cooking, glad Jim placed a roast in the oven. It was brilliant really, letting the roast cook as they played their deadly and life-altering game. Each of them took their time taking out one single block and carefully putting it on top.

The base of the structure was compromised and Aqua was loving the banter going back and forth between them.

"Come on Captain, that the best you got?"

He played her game, pretending to be beaten right until she made that comment. That showed she was feeling secure, she wasn't expecting him to pull out a single tile that left the tower standing but with one piece remaining near the base. She was on a slippery slope.

"You ought to know I don't put out on the first date or the first round, Aqua. Come on now."

"Really? I don't recall it happening that way," she teased back, looking over the structure, trying to determine what other pieces were there for her to take.

"I remember falling asleep in your bed after you inadvertently kissed me. Something that's still legendary among the crew, you know." her eyes fell onto one piece, gingerly reaching out and sliding it out. The piece was near the top of the layer. The tower began to sway, but after a few seconds, it stilled.

The bluenette let out a controlled breath then placed the tile down.

"Your turn."

"Legendary? Most of them went to the academy with me, they know how I am. I bet they were just sad I wasn't kissing THEM. Can't say that I blame them, I am a whole lot of man here." he chuckled at his own joke and at her nervous exhale. His eyes were steely as he considered the precarious tower.

"You losing your cool, doll face?"

"No, it wasn't like that. The fact you kissed me out of the blue and I thought you did that because..." she had to pause, chuckling at the memory and the sweetness of it.

"You 'lost your footing' and crashed into me and kissed me. I didn't know what to do at the time and basically believed you." They were so cute and sweet back then, both of them trying to figure out how to be around each other. Then trying to figure out how to be around each other while harboring feelings for each other.

"Hm? No, I'm not. How about you? Losing your cool?"

"Basically? Just basically believed me? I feel so trusted." he watched the tower for her next move.

"I don't think that was an accident, it doesn't sound like me...in case there was any mystery about that in your pretty little head." he knew he would have stolen a kiss and written it off as something convenient, sounded like him. He could get behind the idea, Aqua was very beautiful.

The bluenette shook her head casing some strands to fall in front of her eyes. She pushed them away, looking at the tower then back at him.

"I think it was. You wanted to ask my permission first before you attempted to kiss me." As she mentioned it a blush came over her cheeks. Thinking about their kiss always did that to her.

He looked at that blush, wondering how long they were going to pad this out.

"Ah... are you really concerned with your next move? I know mine..." he leaned in closer. "How about we ditch the game?"

Aqua let out a thoughtful hum, leaning in a little more until there's they were a hair's breath away from each other. All either of them had to do was lean in even slightly, and they would be kissing.

"Mmm, only if you surrender."

"Hmph, I never surrender." he smirked as he leaned in. A quick kiss, not too long, not too short, just enough to decide he liked kissing her and she tasted nice.

He pulled back with a smirk. "Your move, oh magical girl. Unless you want to crawl over here to my side." and get snogged some more.

Aqua knew he'd never surrender, but it was worth a shot. Maybe just to see if he would give in just one time. Thankfully, he did. He leaned in to kiss her, making her insides feel all warm and tingly.

"Mmm, no. The only thing that crawls is a giant fireball I can summon. Would you like to cuddle next to that?" she murmured in a low, sultry voice. Her eyes glanced over to the Jenga game, easily picking out a piece and slowly taking it out. The piece was easily stacked up on top.

"Your move, Captain."

"Hmmm... dunno how into this game I am anymore. Kinda distracted." he moved a piece expertly anyway, still playing along.

"What do I get if I win?"

"Distracted? Couldn't tell.." Aqua decided to up the ante a little and lean against Jim, letting him feel her body pressed against his. She even licked her lips in a slow manner as she thought over what the winner of their little game would get.

"Winner can do whatever they want to the loser for an hour..." she replied, taking out another piece to place on top. The structure began to sway, but some how managed to stay in one piece.

He licked his lips too.

"Oh yeah? Anything at all? What will you do to me if I throw the game?" he spoke softly, clearly in the mood for something. Not sure what yet, but something. He was already harboring ideas of making her an excellent dinner then perhaps seeing how many bases he could hit with her up in their room.

She was already pregnant with his baby, how much could he blow it up?

Aqua was more or less on the same wavelength as her husband, but she was skipping dinner and going straight for dessert. If he wanted to throw the game, he could, but she wouldn't let him live it down....somewhat. She'd only tease him, saying she reduced him a pile of mush and that he had to have her. Anything to get a rise out of him.

"Why don't we find out right now?" Aqua didn't wait for Jim to say anything, only closed the gap between them to steal a kiss from his lips.

Sparks and lightening crawled down her spine, loving the feeling of being close to her husband again.

He'll beat her in the game. Later. After snogging and anything else she was planning. Good lord she was pretty, and he was very well equipped to ah-- well he's getting ahead of himself. She's a fine looking lady and he'll work from there.

He held her by the shoulders and tugged her over towards his lap. He stole a kiss right back.... or maybe two or more like four. He might understand a bit better how they got pregnant. He could get used to this.

Aqua let out a soft giggle as she pulled into his lap. Each kiss he stole made her knees weak and caused her heart to speed up. Her hands came up to rest on his shoulders.

His streak of stealing kisses comes to an end when she starts to give them to him. Her head tilts, allowing both of them to share and return each kiss. It's been far too long since they had a moment like this.

His arms went around her torso, he tilted his head, took her mouth as often as she gave it.

He ran his hands over her spine then slowly, down her back and along her hip. She was fun to touch... he could see this getting very far very fast if they didn't slow down. Or was he just thinking that?

The idea to slow down or go fast weren't in Aqua's head. Right now, she was focused on being with her husband. On reconnecting to a man she loved and hadn't been with in a month. They could share memories, but this one intimate act, it would be something they could share in the here and now. Time seemed to fly by from the moment her lips and his met for a holy union.

The next thing Aqua knew, she was curling up next to Jim. They were in their bedroom, their clothes thrown on the floor with the sheets wrapped around their bodies. She felt immensely satisfied and utterly at peace with the world. It was the first time in a long while that she had such a content feeling. She placed her head on his chest, listening to his heart beating.

He was feeling great too. "just had sex" was a great status to have and "just had good sex" was even better. Lucky for him Aqua knew all his weak points, all his favorite spots and how he liked to be touched, how he liked to be fucked. He had obviously had plenty of practice with her. She was a lot of fun in bed, he understood his choice to marry her more and more.

"You feel ok? I didn't make you nauseous did I? All the rocking?" he chuckled, it was a stupid joke but he liked stupid jokes.

"Hm?" Aqua tilted her head up, deciding to plant a kiss right on his jaw. There was a soft chuckle from his question, one that she didn't find to be stupid. Well, too stupid.

"No, I feel fine. I'm able to handle a lot, you know." she teased, moving from her spot to climbed on top of him, pressing their bodies against each other's and resting her head next to his.

"I think we both needed that. I feel...a lot better."
