K/S Hospital Scene bc Into Darkness was so K/S TASTIC
It was so sudden. He woke up with a flash, bright lights, soft sounds, a bed, he was alive?? But he'd died in the chamber...in engineering. Spock and he had exchanged that vulcan hand-thing whatever the hell it was. He'd died, he was dead. Was this heaven? Holy....
No. Bones was here nagging at him.
"Oh don't be so melodramatic, you were barely dead. You've been out cold for two weeks."
He was so...taken aback. What had happened? He just remembered being in the locked chamber watching Spock shed tears, glimmering tears of anguish as he slowly died of radiation poisoning... his heart lurched at the memory. He didn't know the vulcan was even capable...
And then Spock was in the room, approaching him. Suddenly... everything else was forgotten. Hell even Bones was gone in his mind, though he could hear the doctor put in a "You know Uhura and I had something to do with it too."
"....Thanks, Spock... for saving my life..."

Huh, what's that? Oh right. They were in a meld. Excellent. No cleanup.]
Yeah... let's go... I think I need to sleep...
that was great though.... that was the best I've ever had. Did you know we could do that?
no subject
...quite good.
[Understatement of the year. Spock was practically vibrating with contentment as he brought them slowly out of the meld.
In the physical world they were tangled together.... and Spock opened his eyes to regard Jim.]
no subject
Well we're discovering places in space and each other the. Awesome.
All that fun and no cleanup, we need to do that more often.... I think I..... need to sleep again... I love you.
[His eyes grew heavy and he slowly drifted off, laying against Spock, limbs tangled in his.]

He found that he was tired... Managing that much activity in his mind proved rather difficult and straining.
Getting comfortable, the Vulcan fell asleep... hoping that Winona won't miss them too much.]

Jim... I hope last night's activities did not put you in this state. Are you well?

[When in fact he felt like someone ought to recalibrate him or something. His mind was suffering the endurance test of their bond. Ultimately their shenanigans the night before were a great exercise to strengthen his mind. But this was going to happen eventually. Their deep meld just kickstarted it. Jim lay limp in the bed, unable to open his eyes though his mind was ... barely awake .]

He needs to contact his father. He needs to know what his mother went through at this point.... because this is different.]

Going into another room, the Vulcan takes out his personal padd and dials his father's number.
ring ring.]

[Sarek is a bit busy at the moment but he makes some time for his son.]
Spock. Greetings, son. I was hoping to speak to you soon. I have had some correspondence with Jim's mother about the wedding.
no subject
...wow, Winona is fast.]
Of course father. However, I have a rather pressing matter that must be discussed sooner than later.
[Spock's eyes, they are worried looking.]
no subject
[Quickly, Sarek is focused on his son. What could be wrong? That concern wasn't for nothing...]
Name it.
no subject
Did mother experience this?
[Yup, Spock looks openly worried now.]
no subject
....
She did. For the majority of her transformation, she was unable to speak more than a few words. She could walk the distance from our bed to the bathroom and very little more.
I did attempt to warn you, Spock. Jim's transformation is irreversible now, as you are aware. To dismantle the bond now would kill him. However frequent mind melds proved to be useful in relieving your mother's symptoms for a short time. Speaking to her through the bond was not only our sole means of communication but it helped to strengthen her.
no subject
[Spock was... well, he was relieved.]
It is well to know that these symptoms are not unusual then. I had feared....
[Well... we won't go there. Spock looks to his father again.]
You said you had some concerns as well? I must admit, I did not expect Missus Kirk to get in contact with you so soon.
no subject
Yes... She is of an opinion that the ceremony would be best held on Earth, rather than New Vulcan. Your granfmother and I disagree, I see very little merit to the humans where as what remains of our people would greatly benefit from such a ceremony.
However she is rather spirited, in a way she reminds me of your mother's bull headedness.
no subject
[Because he couldn't tell his father that he didn't want his wedding on New Vulcan. That place wasn't his home.]
no subject
[No need, your father isn't stupid, Spock. How did you think he thought Winona got this number? Out of the directory? Adorable, son.]
Your avid support... implies favor towards Winona. It would explain why she was able to contact me. I presume she acquired my contact information from you?
no subject
[Spock only hesitates for a moment... because this is his father, and while he may have calmed down a lot since Amanda's death, he's still an imposing man.]
Father, if it is at all possible, I would prefer for Jim and I to be married on Earth. However, if you want us on New Vulcan, then we will go.
no subject
I do prefer it to be on New Vulcan and I believe since your grandmother is funding the ceremony it is her decision. But... might I know your argument as to why you prefer this planet?
no subject
You should know father that my time on Vulcan was a difficult one, and since I never felt as though I belonged there, I never truly called it my home. New Vulcan is the same.
Father...
[Spock looks sad. He hopes he isn't making a mistake in saying this. But Earth was mother's home.. Jim's home... here he feels more comfortable.]
...I hope this does not offend you.
no subject
[Sarek was quiet for a long while, thinking to himself. Clearly this was a difficult thing for him to even comprehend. He would need a while to grasp that. Spock didn't like vulcan, fine, but he didn't like New Vulcan either? He was going to slap the vulcan people in the face by witholding their cultural beacon from them, but then what was this wedding really about? His son or his species? His face shows nothing, he is calm and collected, every bit the intimidating vulcan ambassador.]
I appreciate your confession. I will have to consider it. It is not my choice.
no subject
Of course. Please send my regards to grandmother. Peace and long life to you father.
I...
[Spock hesitates again.]
I never regretted being a Vulcan, father.
no subject
....
I am aware... but it pleases me to hear you say that regardless.
...As I told you once... You will always be a child of two worlds. I am grateful for this, and for you.
