He'd come unprepared with flowers and that didn't bother him, the grave clearly didn't need his help. He was this man's pseudo son. They had a distinct bond and... he felt guilty. He failed to protect him... he failed to uphold his ideals when he first got Enterprise. He had to be bailed out in order to get his ship back. Dammit he wasn't ready to lose Pike! He had so many questions. He had such a need... he finally had a father...
Jim took a shaky breath and looked away but to a keen eye it was obvious that his eyes were already full of tears.]
